The Eight Kinds of People Who Receive Zakat
Zakat can be paid to meriting people or gatherings who fall into at least one of eight zakat able classifications assigned by God in the Quran. Without a doubt, [prescribed] beneficent contributions are just [to be given] to poor people and the needy, and to the individuals who work on [administering] it, and to those whose hearts are to be accommodated, and to [free] those in servitude, and to the obligation ridden, and for the reason for God, and to the traveler.
